About Peter
Peter Amundson was born and raised in Arcadia. He is in his sixth decade living in his hometown and is passionate about it.
Peter attended local schools. In High School he was elected student body President and a Varsity Football Captain.
He went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles where he earned a degree in Political Science specializing in state and local government.
Peter has a distinguished record serving Arcadia as a community volunteer, elected councilman, and as mayor. During his first term as mayor, he worked with the Arcadia Unified School District to honor Milton Sonnevick, the first principal – and Peter’s principal – from Baldwin Stocker Elementary School. There is now a plaque honoring Mr. Sonnevick hanging in the school auditorium.
Peter’s current theme on the Council has been “One Arcadia.” Through collaboration with the School District and leaders of Arcadia diverse community, has strived to bring Arcadia together around the things that make Arcadia the desired community is it.
Peter has been a dedicated advocate for Arcadia’s youth which he believes is Arcadia’s greatest asset. For nearly thirty years prior to first being elected to the city council, Peter volunteered over 500 hours annually working with Arcadia’s youth.
Peter Amundson is married to his High School sweetheart, Jackie Pfeil Amundson and they are proud of their daughter and two sons.
